The Real Reason You Can't Lose Weight

Isn't it just completely frustrating to see some people can eat just whatever they want and never gain a pound? So what is the difference between a person like that and one that can just sniff food and gain five pounds? The answer to that is simply metabolism.

There are people that are blessed with very high metabolisms and that means that their bodies burn off calories as fast as they eat them. Others have a very slow metabolism which causes their bodies NOT to burn calories very fast.

Metabolism is simply the speed in which our body's motor is running. Everyone CAN lose weight no matter what your metabolism throws at you. To lose weight you MUST burn more calories than you consume. Let's take a look at some causes for low metabolisms.

First of all, fasting causes low metabolism. This is one of the biggest mistakes that overweight people can make. Skipping meals is a huge cause for low metabolisms. Secondly, having a low calorie diet. Not having enough calories causes one to feel starved therefore causing the body to hold on to fat. Other causes are snacking throughout the day on high sugared foods (candy, cokes etc...), not having enough physical activity and an under active thyroid.

1. Don't skip any meals.

2. Exercise some every day. A little is better than nothing.

3. Build your muscles.

4. Avoid alcohol and sugar

5. Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day.

6. Eat foods with high nutrition values

7. Avoid fast foods and pre-packaged foods.

In addition to the above, there are three areas to focus on when trying to increase your metabolism. First of all, you need to focus on eating healthy. The types of foods you eat have a tremendous impact on how your body functions. Next, get involved in a weight lifting routine. Lifting weights will not only burn calories during the workout but also long after the workout is over as well. Finally, do some cardio exercises. This will help to build your cardiovascular system thus reducing your risk for many diseases and allowing your body to function the way it is supposed to.

So if you are serious about losing those unwanted pounds, then it's time to speed up that metabolism. It may seem impossible but one CAN increase his or her metabolism and reach your ideal weight with confidence!
